“It’s funny we are the most superior species on the planet, and our solution to a problem is to destroy it. That’s not being superior, that’s just being dumb and destructive.”
Set in the Nagarjuna tiger reserve, Man Hunt by Priya Kumar takes us on an adventure through a variety of characters each struggling with their own issues. White tiger, who acted like a human and not just any ordinary human, but an evolved one. Bhikku, the monk is the epitome of sacrifice and believes that destruction does not bring freedom. There is a dedicated forest officer who spends almost all her money to keep the wild animals safe and believes that “There are enough people to care about the 7 billion that swarm this planet, but only a handful of them truly care for nature and its life”. There is a family where the stepfather is trying to reconcile with his stepson. Then there is Ram, a journalist who sold his soul to the devil, Rahul, an innovative youngster, and a few dishonest politicians as well. This book is a treat for the readers to see how the characters grow and eventually evolve into who they are meant to be . . . their true selves.
Man Hunt deals with pertinent issues like deforestation, genetic modification of animals, corruption in media, vested political agendas, and a larger environmental impact stemming from our irresponsibility. If all this wasn’t enough, this book is packed with suspense, inspiration, awareness, drama, curiosity, and divinity all at once. Some metaphysical questions too are answered in this book.
One of the many things that I loved about this book has to be the characterization and how the storyline is full of twists and turns perfectly complimenting the fast-paced plot. From the very first page, you will be hooked to the story. The author has left no stone unturned to make the novel more gripping.
Looking at just the title and the cover you cannot make out what exactly the book is all about, and I think that makes it all the more intriguing.
If you’re someone who likes books with a proper closure for characters, including the side-characters, this book is for you. Personally, this is hands down one of the most unconventional books I’ve ever read by an Indian author.

~ Man Hunt by Priya Kumar is a story filled with thrill, suspense, drama action and philosophy. It is a mixture of fiction and non-fiction.
~ It is set in the Nagarjuna Tiger Reserve centre whose aim is to reserve the tigers, provide them natural habitat which they deserve. While some people are after this goal, others are going after mal-practices, being selfish for money and materialistic things as well as trying to kill them.
~This story is of Neil who works there and always meets Bhikku (a Buddhist monk) who soothes Neil’s soul by his wise words. There are other characters also who one day go on a mission. They were seeking answers to different questions but their aim is similar which is to find the beautiful white tiger who is killing people around. Will they find this white tiger? Is white tiger really killing people? Is there anything special about it? To know this, grab the copy now.
~ This book touches on grievous topics such as deforestation, genetic transmutation/modification of animals, corruption by bad politicians, destruction of the planet caused by humans, etc. Being the cleverest and the greatest species, humans have been interfering with mother nature. But today we are facing the problems caused by us only. We are facing an uncertain global pandemic whose end is unknown to us. We have been caged in our homes, we are unsafe whereas the other animals are roaming and enjoying true beauty of this nature.
~ Charles Darwin had said those who are adaptable, those who are the fittest will survive. But I think those who protect mother nature, those who don’t harm, those who embrace it without doing much distortions in its original form, will survive.
~ This book has a spiritual or stoic vibe which I liked the most. She has written about different things like karma, karmic cycles, positivity, happiness, purpose of life, choices we make in our lives etc. One can easily get attracted by its title and cover. The white tiger and monk in its cover has that positive vibe which can make any reader grab this book.
~ The best thing about this book is that the author has just not only given the philosophical messages but also she has given examples through this story. For eg: how one man’s bad deed can not only affect him but also his family, friends, country and thereby world if we see it through a larger perspective.

BOOK NAME: Man Hunt
AUTHOR: Priya Kumar
GENRE: Inspirational/ Thriller Fiction
FORMAT: Paperback
🍁 If you truly want to feel freedom, you need to step into the wild where the law of the universe is at its glorious best. – MAN HUNT.
🍁 Tiger is definitely an endangered species among the wildlife. Not only the tigers, the wildlife is in tremendous danger because of the activities of the being. While our duty is to conserve the nature that God has bestowed upon us, we are the reason of its destruction. But, we are far from realising the truth and taking some action against it.
🍁 This story is set up in the Nagarjuna tiger reserve which is the home of 72 tigers. But soon, a Man hunter is set loose in the territory. Everybody have witnessed it as a white tiger. The visitors, the residents, the protectors are in for a shock owing to the situation. Neil is worried for the monk who is not ready to leave his home even in this dangerous circumstances, while Sakshi because of her love for the animals.
🍁 What will be the outcome of these happenings? And in whose favour? Why this Manhunt began in the first place?
🍁 It’s commendable how the author covers such moving topics, all in a single work and how exceptionally they are executed.
🍁 Each and every chapter is a page turner and thought provoking. The issues that we think are supposed to be the concern of a single person, actually is a nation wide concern.
🍁 The preaching of Bhikku shows how a person needs someone wiser than him in his life and how they prove to be the light at the end of the tunnel.
🍁 The plot is exceptional and captivating and keeps you at the edge till the end and the characters are shaped up greatly.
🍁 The language is crisp and easy and the narration is smooth.
🍁 I would definitely recommend this gem to each and everyone.

Banadeep –
Wild-life is an unavoidable attraction that captures the heart of many tourists and leaves them with awestruck experiences. People who love wildlife have a tendency to run behind Mother Nature for seeking the answers to many unsolved mysteries. Set in the Nagarjuna Tiger Reserve, Priya Kumar is back with her latest release- ‘MANHUNT’.
The story is filled with suspense, drama, and divinity which brings to fore issues like deforestation, genetic modification of animals, corruption in media, vested political agendas, and a large environmental impact stemming from our irresponsibility.
The most beautiful part of this story is ought to be the characterization. Priya Kumar has woven a relevant plot with a few characters and blended them into a form of a novel with her skillful writing. There is a monk who is the epitome of sacrifice and believes that destruction does not bring freedom. Then there is the dedicated forest officer who spends almost all her money to keep the wild animals safe. According to her, “There are enough people to care about the 7 billion that swarm this planet, but only a handful of them truly care for nature and its life”. There is a family where the stepfather is trying to reconcile with his stepson. Then there are corrupt journalists, dishonest politicians, and whatnot. It will be a treat to the readers to see how the characters grow and evolve with time.
Kumar’s writing has always been appealing to me. There is a certain vibe of serenity throughout her description. I have read almost 3-4 books by her till now and this is definitely the best for me. The emotions, the drama, the internal politics, the mental dwelling of a dishonest man, Kumar has left no stone unturned to make the novel more gripping. From the very first page, you will be hooked to the story.
Being a genetic engineer myself, I am deeply surprised by the level of research the author has put into the book. Different difficult concepts are used here and they are explained in a very plain way to make it easier for the amateurs. I can’t wait to watch the novel into a series that is going to come soon in Zee5.

The story is good , Character development of some people , especially Rahul is too much to believe , especially just within a time span of 3-4 days. Its literally published on the cover that the series is soon going to be a web series on Zee5. Thats exactly what this book is , a script for a web/tv series . Its as if the author wrote the book in mind that she is writing a script web series , as long as she is writing it , might as well publish it and mint some money.
If we take the web series script angle aside , the overall plot is pretty good and the general Indian reader , will enjoy it. The language is simple and easy to understand. There is no denying the fact that the book keeps you entertained , but thats not the whole point of reading books.
Reccomened if you are a fan of Bollywood films and want to start reading books , this will be a good starting point.

The cover of the book is enchanting and delightful. The title is unique which depicts the central idea of the book and address the present day scenario. The story is about nagarjuna tiger reserve which is home for 72 tigers. This beauty of nature is prone to forest fires and widespread corruption and poaching. Sakshi, an honest officer who can do anything to save forest and animals. Somehow, sakshi finds out the abnormal activities going on in the reserve by corrupt politicians and media who want to hunt white tiger but there was no trace of such tiger which is also called tiger no. 73. Bhikhu, a buddhist monk who take stand to protect animals and forest from this cruelty. There are other characters too in the storyline. The plotting mainly highlight the issues reagarding poaching, animal cruelty, genetic modification of animals, corruption and media etc. By each passing day man are becoming beast for their own power. Although, as author states, ” evil is not evil if it ends in goodness and greatness”. It is important to find your true inner self and live your own moral values and ethics. Which, is the only key to a powerful, peaceful and happy life. The language used is simple and lucid. Author has beautifully penned down her own thoughts with the help of character bhikhu, who is a monk. His teachings are inspiring and a thought provoking. The book is full of suspense, drama and divinity. It has covered each minute details and author has given mindblowing closure to the story and to each character. Moreover, reader will be smitten by the sheer beauty of white tiger with mystical blue eyes and heavenly monk together.
To conclude, book is an ecstatic to the soul which is also an eye opener for mankind. A very commendable job done by the author. I really enjoyed reading this and not want to finish it so early🙈 i had read many books by this author and she always amaze me by her writing and unique plot❤ i highly highly highly recommend this book.

Neil a junior forest officer at the Nagarjuna Forest reserve loves his job because it keeps him near to Bhikku, the monk who stays in this forest. Neil loved to be meet Bhikku, listen to him; something Neil looked forward to daily. After their monastery was ruined in a forest fire, though all his peers moved outside the forest reserve, Bhikku lived in his modest living place in the middle of nature.
Kalu, Neil’s assistant and their driver had intentions to explore the forest but Sakshi, the forest officer who is an honest animal activist and environmentalist would always keep him in check as she suspected him to be indulging in nefarious activities.
Nikhil is a busy scientist from New Delhi who recently got divorced from his wife Naina owing to his busy life and inability to allot time for family. This lifestyle of Nikhil forced Naina to fall in love with Jay Seth and ultimately marry him. The one most affected by this separation is their son Rahul who is not able to accept Jay in his mother’s life. Going on a trip to the Nagarjuna Forest Reserve for Rahul’s birthday is Jay’s plan to get close to Rahul.
Naseer a rich businessman is also on a trip to the same forest on a break from his busy life, also as he muses on the heir for his hard-earned empire as his son Shaan is a spoilt brat reluctant to take over the reins.
Around the same time, Neil is alarmed by the sight of a white tiger near Bhikku; Neil is shocked by its sudden appearance as they have a count of the 72 tigers and strict surveillance as well for them. Is there a conspiracy behind this white tiger and selfish motives of these visitors forms the rest of the story.
I have earlier read 2 books from Priya Kumar and both were non-fiction which belonged to the self-help genre.
This is my first fiction from her, and I did find streaks of wisdom from the author through the character Bhikku. Bhikku is also the most charming character in the story as his presence brings a certain peace and calm; the narration is so descriptive that the reader experiences the forest reserve through the author’s writing. The backdrop for the story is unique, the pace is fast and the way each of these characters is connected into the storyline is impressive.
The story makes for a racy thriller while giving out the message of how humans exploit nature for their selfish motives. The way author mixed wisdom into a fictional story is the highlight of this book. The story questions human psyche and behavior in subtle ways putting across some discomfort able thoughts. If you like thrillers and thought-provoking stories or different storylines, then this is a must read.
