“How to write a book in 8 days” – a very catchy title I must say. When I first came across this title I was like ‘Oh, yeah! I definitely need to read this book’ and I’m glad I did. I was very much keen on knowing how it would be possible to write a book in 8 days. I couldn’t wait to find answers to the questions that were in me.
Being a writer, sometimes I find it really hard to bring out the time and ink my thoughts. Sometimes, when I’ve this brilliant concept, I almost forget it when I pick up my notebook. And at times, I’d feel blank. If you are a writer and facing such issues too, then this book is a must-read for you. This book really helped me a lot and I was able to realize where I was making mistakes and what I’d to do.
This is the third book I’m reading of Priya mam’s and I absolutely loved it. Her wordings are very simple and easily understandable. She has covered almost all the aspects of what a writer must do and must not. The book begins with her life experience when she struggled to write. It was very relatable for me and I guess it’d be for all writers too.
“If it comes from your heart, it will touch the heart of others”. This line hit the cord. Long back when I started writing I was doing this and I felt at peace. Later on, seeing almost many best sellers emerging and keeping a track of their genre, I started thinking reader-centric. And that was where I started falling behind. And now, I’ve corrected my mistakes and realized what must be done.
Right from the language difficulties, and plot sketch, to writer’s block, mam has explained every solution very well. I’m not much of a non-fiction/self-help reader, but I must say, honestly, this book did a lot of wonders. I really hope I’d be able to follow at least a few of her tips and tricks and complete my dream book.
I loved the simplicity of the cover and the elements that were put together. Each and every chapter is helpful and has amazing tips. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. If you are a budding writer or a writer who’s facing troubles or has self-doubts about your passion, then you must pick this book. Highly recommended for you all.
P.S: To those of you who wonder if she wrote this book in 8 days, YES! It was. Most of her books are written in a much shorter span. I’m amazed by her writing speed. Hoping to attend her workshops someday.

“ If you haven’t started on a story, you write on it until it is finished.”
Many of you have probably read books, either fictional or non-fictional, for so many years and some of you probably tried to write some of your content and a few of you tried to write the whole book. As we know there are a lot fewer people who tried to write a whole book with proper guidance due to very less teaching and awareness on how to write a complete book from collecting to organizing to publishing.
Priya Kumar herself being a professional writer has taken up the responsibility of helping readers in understanding the whole process and sharing her secrets. “How to write a book in 8 days” is a book helping readers understand the process of writing to publishing from the very scratch. The core of the book talks about the correct format and behaviour to write quality long content. She talks about the experience and the challenges faced during her journey. The beautiful part which I noticed in this book is that the author has also discussed/mentioned the price range for every process. There is also a topic in the book that talks about the contract that takes place between the author and agency/publisher/agent. I must say that this book has every small thing an author has to go through with and I am very grateful that the author has decided to launch such an insightful book which is truly a need at this time. Even I like the way she ended this book. I feel so thankful for such writers who are genuine to the readers because I feel that it’s the only way a writer can connect with their readers.
Becoming an author of a best-seller book requires dedication and a lot of patience
But this book provides the best explanation and structure so that a less experienced writer can write a book in just 8 days. The language used by the author is lucid and even the entire explanation or plot by the author is very well structured. I have read many books by the same author and trust me not even a single book by her has ever disappointed me.
Recommended to everyone out there. Beginners can also use this to gain knowledge and learn from the author’s experiences/mistakes.

“Each writer is born with a repertory company in his head. Shakespeare has perhaps 20 players. … I have 10 or so, and that’s a lot. As you get older, you become more skilful at casting them.”

A few weeks ago when I came across this book written by Priya Kumar, I was intrigued by the title and wondered how a book can be written in 8 days. After all, every famous (and not-so-famous) author claims to have taken several months if not years to write their best sellers. But here comes an author who claims to have written this book in less than 2 days and gives mantras on how to write a book in 8 days! The title of the book was enough to push me to read it.
True to its title, the book indeed has tips that would help in writing a book within 8 days. While it may not be feasible for everyone to dedicate the time, focus, and social disconnect to writing full-time while ensuring the ideas keep flowing, the author has only shared what worked for her. So, it’s not impossible either. What’s required is determination.
Apart from tips on what to focus on while writing a book, the author has shared several personal anecdotes to inspire the writer within you. Sharing details of what to do and what not to do, the author has shared stories about her journey as a best-selling author, what worked best for her and what mistakes one should not make while writing and publishing a book. There is also a detailed chapter on how to go about publishing and distributing once the book has been written and what different options are available in the market. This section answers most of the questions that any budding writer usually has in mind.
The best thing about this book is that it is not a textbook. It surely has what it claims in its title, but it also has a lot of stories. Stories about Priya Kumar’s writing journey. Stories about what challenges she faced while writing some of her best sellers and how she overcame them. Stories about how she wrote some of her most famous books within a couple of days. The book has several personal stories, tips, and tricks that are sure to inspire the writer within you to embark on your writing voyage.

I have been a fan of Priya Kumar’s works. One of the big reasons is there are always lil gifts along with her books. This time, I got a cute bookmark with a Priya Kumar quote on it, I fancy these things a lot.
Every word that she writes carries weight and I like her self-help and motivational books. “How to write a book in 8 days” was a book I was quite looking forward to as almost every reader often dreams of writing their own book one day. The book deals with many reality checks, the excuses we look to write, or the genuine problems that come up while thinking of ideas and writing them down.
I kind of believe I can only write a book when my hair turns gray but her book makes me want to quit my job and sit with my journal right away. My point is if you are someone who has a story in their head and is just waiting for that push to start scribbling your words, this is the book you need. Also, if you are someone who often daydreams of stories, but needs to figure out how the plot characters, dialogues, and everything comes together.
The author has added a lot of her personal experiences- she actually wrote the book in 8 days! What bothers me a bit is it is not necessary for everyone to have that same pace. Someone might take two to three years to complete the book as they have responsibilities or maybe they don’t have a favorable situation.
All things said I like the flow of the book, the language is lucid and easy, and the points that she has highlighted are easy to comprehend. Being a marketeer myself, I find the book marketing strategies that she has discussed pretty useful and beneficial.

Many of you have probably been reading for many years, if not several. Reading is enjoyable and a way to cure oneself. I am sure that many of us wanted to write our own books after going through this reading journey. Whether you think it is amusing or serious, writing a book is no joke. We have used all our ideas, and a few pages have even been filled with a rough draft of a few chapters. While few are moving forward with their objective of publication, many have buried one of their most desired goals . It can be due to their busy lives or their fear of being stuck without a plan of action.
Whatever the reason, reading this book by Priya Kumar is a requirement if you wish to publish a book (of any genre). She is one of my favourite writers of non-fiction. Her works are direct, concise, and very inspiring.
This book is outstanding and inspiring. Priya Kumar walks us through the process of writing a book from conception to publication and distribution. Information is presented in an organised manner that is subtle and clear. No other author, in my opinion, would be ready to provide as much information as Priya Kumar has. Every question that the writer has can be answered by her.
She has shared personal experiences that the readers will undoubtedly find motivating. How is a book able to be written in just 8 days? Do you believe it is possible? Priya claims that it is feasible. In my perspective, learning how to write a book quickly needs some time. In 8 Days is not for beginners, yet this book can be a beginner’s introduction to writing and publishing.

When it comes to self-help books you always have your own doubts. And so did I, when I got hold of this international bestseller, ‘How to write a book in 8 days’ by Priya Kumar. Being an author myself I knew for sure that a book could never be written in eight days. Some of my books have taken long to see the light of the day and some are still waiting in the pipeline. It definitely is not an easy task to churn out a fantastic book in so less a time. You need inspiration to knock at your creative side and the determination to give shape to your rioted thoughts into words. I started to read this book with queries in my mind and interestingly, I got my answers and more than that I was awakened to the fact that I was doing certain things wrongly. And in the affirmative it was the correct time to set things right.
Well, if you are looking forward to writing a book stay put, fix your seat belt, and pay attention to Priya Kumar’s tricks of the trade. She suggests before getting started to write a book it’s highly necessary to equip oneself, whether it be brushing one’s technical self that will be employed in writing or the linguistic self that will need the vocabulary to translate thoughts into appropriate words. She also makes it very clear that an author doesn’t owe anyone a book. Which means there is no particular genre that one should bracket oneself into as though that’s the only thing one is expected to write. And writing a book would be easier when one reads more.
